Colombia: 14 national routes at El Dorado airport not ruled out from September.

Bogotá’s mayor, Claudia López, has opened the possibility of reactivating 14 national routes at Bogotá’s El Dorado airport, provided that the Health Ministry certifies that the destination cities have passed the peak of the pandemic and are reducing the number of positive cases of the coronavirus.

Lopez said that the request to open to more destinations was made by the Aerocivil and in that sense he said that the aviation authority is looking for El Dorado to start serving the following routes:

Bogota – Rionegro – Bogota
Bogotá – Cali – Bogotá
Bogotá – Cartagena – Bogotá
Bogotá – Barranquilla – Bogotá
Bogotá – Pereira – Bogotá
Bogotá – Santa Marta – Bogotá
Bogotá – Bucaramanga – Bogotá
Bogotá – Cúcuta – Bogotá
Bogotá – Montería – Bogotá
Bogota – San Andres – Bogota
Bogota – Medellin – Bogota
Bogotá – Villavicencio – Bogotá
Bogotá – Pasto – Bogotá.

“Aerocivil” requested the selective reactivation of 14 national routes in Bogota. We agree. It depends on the Ministry of Health to certify that the cities are lowering the contagion curve, the other mayors to accept and that the airports and airlines do the proper follow-up to passengers,” he said through his twitter account.

Although the mayor did not indicate when these routes could become operational, what is clear is that in the second week of September the air terminal will begin piloting the Bogotá – Leticia – Bogotá, Bogotá – San Andrés – Bogotá and Bogotá – Cartagena – Bogotá routes.

On the other hand, the El Dorado Airport received two stamps that certify their work to face the covid -19.

The first was the biosecurity seal, “Check in certified, Covid-19 biosecurity” created by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and the second is the certification and protection seal ‘Safeguard’ of Bureau Veritas.

The ‘Check in certificate’ seal has the support of ProColombia and Icontec, and seeks to support the reactivation of the tourism sector, generating a standard for this industry, including airport terminals, to comply with the biosecurity protocols contemplated.

The Safeguard protection seal highlights the good practices developed by the air terminal and the compliance with biosafety standards, which guarantee the implementation of the protocols established for the prevention of covid-19.
