Jet2 has announced the suspension of flights and holiday packages to the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca) for the remainder of the summer 2020 (until 30 November 2020), due to the continuing uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the UK Government’s recommendations not to travel and the quarantine imposed on travellers from Spain.

In addition, the company has delayed the resumption of flights and vacation packages to destinations on the Spanish Peninsula (Alicante and Malaga) and to the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) until September 13, when it initially expected to return on August 30.

The company has assured that it will continue to monitor the situation closely to provide further updates once it receives more information from the British Government.

Since the signing they have urged the government to implement a specific approach to travel advice, rather than the current total-ban approach. “We understand how hard clients work and save for their well-deserved vacations and would like to thank them for their continued patience and understanding,” the firm said.

For its part, the company has announced hundreds of new flights to destinations in Greece, Turkey and Portugal to give customers more options when booking their summer vacations.
