These are the airports in Colombia that already have the “Check in Certificate” biosecurity seal.
The El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, the Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena and the airports of Oriente, Palonegro in Bucaramanga and Camilo Daza in Cúcuta, obtained the “Check-in Certificate” biosecurity seal from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, with the support of ProColombia and Icontec, and which is endorsed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
“For the reactivation phase of the tourism industry in Colombia it is very important to work hand in hand and as a team. It is for this reason that we congratulate these important terminals for obtaining our biosecurity seal, which is a great step in the agenda we have been implementing to promote this activity,” said the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, José Manuel Restrepo.
The main objectives of the biosecurity seal are to generate trust among travelers and consumers, minimize the risk of virus infection and encourage tourism in the country.
Travelers will be able to use the airports in Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Cúcuta with the confidence that all biosecurity protocols are being strictly followed, aimed at minimizing the spread of COVID-19.
“By obtaining this seal we are taking a fundamental step towards the recovery of the tourism sector in Colombia. I invite more entrepreneurs in this industry to get certified to give our tourists the confidence that they are traveling safely,” said the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Julian Guerrero Orozco.
The right to use the seal can only be granted by a Conformity Assessment Body and, on this occasion, the airports were endorsed by Bureau Veritas.
This certification, created by Resolution 576 of 2020, is voluntary and is based on the criteria of the biosecurity protocols contemplated in Resolution 666 of 2020 and on those specific to each sector of the tourism sector value chain.
The certification will be valid for two years and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism will keep a record of the service providers, attractions and tourist destinations that are granted the seal.
