Aeromexico will lay off 616 Flight Attendants, representing 22.6 percent of the workforce, instead of the thousand initially considered. Likewise, it will continue with job rotation for up to a year, from October 1, 2020 and until September 2021, under the argument that these are measures required to be able to face the financial crisis caused by the Covid-19.

The Union Association of Flight Attendants (ASSA) held its assembly remotely due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, where its general secretary, Ricardo del Valle, informed them of the proposals that Grupo Aeroméxico requires to continue operating due to the crisis caused by the reduction of flights in the face of the “critical scenario” that the health emergency generated worldwide.

He reiterated that all those Flight Attendants readjusted and with permission will be able to return to the company as soon as market conditions are favorable, with the guarantee that their place will be respected.
