The Changi International Airport in Singapore, considered the best in the world, has warned of a long crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which shows no sign of abating soon, reported Business Insider.

Changi has been chosen as the best airport in the world for the eighth consecutive year according to Skytrax rankings, among all those with a range of passengers between 60 and 70 million.

Changi has made it clear that “the battle against COVID-19 has only just begun” in his annual accounts report, which has been picked up by the BBC, although the company’s results only go up to the end of March 2020, leaving out the worst period of the pandemic.

“The future looks bleak with this situation, which shows no signs of abating,” they have written.

Singapore banned travelers on March 23rd.

Meanwhile, the airport has suspended operations in two terminals due to the drop in flight demand and also the construction of a fifth terminal for at least the next two years.

Last year Singapore built the Jewel terminal, which has the largest inland waterfall in the world and has helped boost visitor numbers, increasing the income of the entire complex by 2.6%.
