The plane MC-21-310 will make its first flight at the end of this year, according to the Russian trade minister, Denis Maturov.
The minister made the announcement during a formal visit to the assembly plant in Irkutsk this Friday.
The MC-21-310 is the variant of the aircraft that is equipped with Russian Aviadvigatel PD-14 engines.
The PD-14 is the alternative to the Pratt & Whitney PW1400G that powers the MC-21-300.
Irkut said the -310’s fuel system has been tested for leaks, and the PD-14 has been tested under standard conditions, along with the auxiliary power unit and engine-related systems on the aircraft.
Maturov added that certification testing of the MC-21-300 continues, and the manufacturer expects to obtain a Russian type certificate by the end of 2021.
