U.S. airlines would receive $17 billion for four months of payroll support under a new relief proposal by the bipartisan Senate’s COVID-19, a spokeswoman for Senator Mark Warner said Tuesday.

Warner’s office said the proposal would also include $4 billion for airports, Reuters reported.

The proposal, which does not yet have the support of the White House or congressional leaders, reserves $45 billion for the U.S. transportation sector.

In October, American Airlines and United Airlines laid off more than 32,000 workers after an earlier $25 billion payroll assistance program expired.
