US approves a third 14 billion aid package for airlines.
U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday gave final approval to a new $14 billion airline payroll aid package as part of a COVID-19 relief bill, which will be the third round of government support for the sector.
With the latest six-month extension that will keep thousands of workers on payrolls until September 30, Congress has granted U.S. airlines $54 billion for payroll costs since March 2020, Reuters reviewed.
Airlines for America praised this latest aid package, saying that “it is vital to have our employees on the job and ready to help as our nation prepares to emerge from this crisis.”
