American Airlines announced on Monday that it will reduce or suspend flights to Brazil, Chile and Peru, due to the increase of new cases of COVID-19 in the region.
The airline said it will suspend flights between Miami and Manaus until November 2. It will reduce its daily flights from Dallas and New York JFK to Sao Paulo to three weekly and Miami – Rio de Janeiro flights will also be reduced to three weekly frequencies.

The flight between New York and Santiago de Chile, which was scheduled to begin on May 7, has been delayed until July 2,
American is also reducing its weekly flights between Dallas and Lima to four flights a week.
The reduction of flights to South America is part of the ongoing roller coaster ride caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in which positive news for airlines in one segment is often short-lived or soon countered by setbacks elsewhere.
