The new Dominican airline Red Air made its official presentation this Friday, in a ceremony presided over by Dominican President Luis Abinader.
Red Air counts among its shareholders the Alvarez family, owner of the Venezuelan airline Láser Airlines, as well as other Dominican partners.

The airline has begun operations with four aircraft, the company’s executive president, Héctor Gómez, told EFE, without giving details of the company’s initial investment.
Red Air made its inaugural flight last November and now flies twice daily from Santo Domingo to Miami, carrying 2,000 passengers a week.

The company plans to open regular flights to Colombia, Venezuela, the United States, as well as other destinations in the Caribbean and Europe.
At the presentation ceremony, Abinader stressed that the new airline will promote trade and tourism and will also stimulate competition, contributing to “more reasonable prices”.
