The way we travel has changed and Iberia’s loyalty program wants to adapt to the new times by incorporating new features, among them, the way to accumulate Avios, the program’s currency.
At the end of November, Avios will be accrued for each euro spent, instead of per distance flown, as is currently the case. Thus, for every euro spent -excluding taxes, fees and charges- Iberia customers will earn between 5 and 8 Avios, depending on their Iberia Plus card level.

“This is a fairer and more transparent way of rewarding our loyal customers, which reflects the constant effort we make at Iberia to adapt to their needs, and which makes Iberia Plus one of the most valued loyalty programs in Spain. This change is also the starting point for many improvements that we are working on and will soon see the light of day,” said Silvia Morán, Director of Customer Engagement.
This change also includes customers earning Avios when they spend on extra services, such as additional baggage and seat selection, which currently do not generate Avios.
Elite Points, which are required to upgrade to a higher card level for additional benefits, will remain unchanged.
