Boeing 777X flight tests suspended due to engine problem
Boeing has temporarily suspended test flights of the 777X after an unspecified problem was detected in the aircraft’s engine, the GE9X.
The aircraft manufacturer and GE Aviation are currently investigating the problem, which has led Boeing to suspend its 777X test program.
The engine glitch occurred during testing last October 6, 2022, when a Boeing 777-9, registration N779XW, was conducting several test flights between Seattle and Moses Lake, in the United States, when one of its GE9X engines failed, Aerotime reported.

The GE9X has already completed more than 2,600 flight cycles and about 1,700 operating hours.
GE Aviation has already completed a borescope inspection of the engine and agreed with Boeing to remove the part and send it for further investigation at GE’s testing facility in Peebles, Ohio.
“During these tests, a temperature alert was observed and the operator shut down the engine normally. GE is coordinating next steps with Boeing to support the resumption of flight testing,” the engine manufacturer explained in a statement sent to FlightGlobal Wednesday.
