Qantas inaugurated its new direct route between Melbourne and Dallas/Fort Worth on Saturday, increasing travel options between Australia and the United States.

The route will operate three weekly frequencies (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) on Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Flights between Melbourne and Dallas will take approximately 15 hours 40 minutes, while the return flight will take 17 hours 35 minutes.

Qantas resumed flights to Santiago de Chile.

This Qantas flight is the first non-stop flight between the two cities and is in addition to the direct flights the company offers from Melbourne to Los Angeles, increasing seats between Victoria and the United States by more than 6,000 per month.

Melbourne-Dallas/Fort Worth is one of eight new international routes Qantas has announced since reopening borders and the second from Melbourne, following the launch of flights to Delhi last year.

“We are delighted to offer our customers another new international destination from Melbourne as demand for travel continues to grow strongly,” said Andrew David, managing director of Qantas Domestic and International.

“We have already seen a great response to these flights since they went on sale, not only from those who want to visit Dallas, but from travelers who want to take advantage of the excellent connections to popular destinations such as Orlando, Miami and Boston,” David added.

Qantas’ marketing partner, American Airlines, will also offer codeshare services on this flight as part of the joint network to Australia, marketing and selling the route to its customers throughout North America.
