Norwegian to lease six more Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft

Norwegian Air announced Monday that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) to lease six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, adding to the three MAXs the airline previously agreed to lease from ALC, one of which has already been delivered.

“The addition of these modern, fuel-efficient aircraft fits well with our fleet strategy. It will also help offset Boeing’s delays on other aircraft due for delivery to Norwegian this spring,” said Geir Karlsen, Norwegian’s CEO.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is approximately 14% more fuel efficient compared to previous-generation aircraft, contributing to Norwegian’s ambitious goal of reducing its carbon emissions by 45% by 2030.
