Icelandic airline PLAY announced Wednesday the addition of Amsterdam to its summer schedule in 2023. The first flight between Reykjavík and Schiphol Airport is scheduled for June 5 and will feature up to five weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays).

With Amsterdam as the new destination, passengers can travel between Amsterdam and four U.S. cities, including New York, Boston, Washington DC and Baltimore, as well as Toronto in Canada, via Iceland.

Since its first flight in June 2021, PLAY has expanded its fleet from three Airbus A320neo aircraft to six in 2022 and will operate 10 Airbus A320/321neo aircraft in 2023. With a network of nearly 40 destinations and more than one million passengers carried since its launch, the airline has a strong track record of 87% on-time performance in 2022.

“We are delighted to bring back our services to Amsterdam and connect more customers with our affordable travel options. Amsterdam is one of Europe’s largest hubs and a vital destination for our operations between North America and Europe,” commented Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY.
