Chile: LATAM launches direct route between Concepción and Calama
As a sign of its commitment to interregional connectivity in Chile, LATAM presented its new route between the cities of Concepción (Biobío Region) and Calama (Antofagasta Region), which will begin operating on July 2.
While today the journey between these cities takes approximately 4 hours, thanks to this direct route that avoids a stopover in Santiago, passengers will arrive at their destination in just 2:30 hours.

“This route satisfies an important demand linked to work activities as well as a growing number of passengers interested in domestic tourism. Our estimates are that, for the first six months of operation, we will be able to connect close to 22,000 passengers,” said María Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager, LATAM Airlines Group.
The route will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, with capacity for 174 passengers, and will have three frequencies per week: from Concepción, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays; and from Calama, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Prices will start at $29,990 per leg, plus boarding taxes.
