Thanks to fleet renewal investments, Aeromexico has positioned itself in the Top 3 most fuel-efficient airlines in the world, according to reports from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
This is one of the achievements that the company highlights in its most recent Sustainability Report 2022, which summarizes the most relevant milestones in terms of its Social, Environmental and Corporate Governance (ESG) performance. The document was prepared in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and, for the first time, the company adopted Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards to present specific information for the Airline, Air Cargo and Logistics industries.
During 2022, Mexico’s flagship airline received 20 new aircraft, which were added to those acquired during 2021, reaching a total of 144 aircraft by the end of that year and to date has more than 150 in its assets, the largest fleet in its nearly 90-year history. As a result, the airline became 40% more efficient than in previous years, reducing its carbon footprint per seat kilometer by between 20% and 40% compared to the average airline of its type.

By the end of 2022, Aeromexico transported almost 22 million passengers, operating more than 500 flights per day on average. It also ranked as the seventh most punctual airline in the world, according to measurements by the consulting firm Cirium.
Through its environmental actions, the airline mitigated almost 4 thousand tons of CO2 through its Vuela Verde program and, thanks to its Paperless initiative, reduced the consumption of 6.5 million sheets of paper. In alliance with the National Transplant Center (CENATRA), it successfully transferred organs for transplant purposes, and its corporate governance actions enabled it to remain in the IC500 corporate integrity index in Mexico.
