After transporting more than 700,000 passengers between Colombia and Spain in 2022, Avianca continues to bet on connectivity between Latin America and the old continent. For this reason, it announced a historic increase in its flights connecting Madrid and Barcelona to and from Bogota.

The airline will go from operating 42 flights per week to a total of 56 flights per week on the Bogotá – Madrid – Bogotá route and from 14 to 28 flights per week on the Bogotá – Barcelona – Bogotá route, which represents, for the first time, an offer of 21,000 seats available between Colombia and Spain.

With this increase in frequencies in both Madrid and Barcelona, which will begin on June 12, 2023, passengers will be able to enjoy the experience offered by Avianca on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with capacity for 250 passengers.

“The demand for travelers flying to and from Europe continues to increase every year, and that is why we are making a historic commitment to this market, which has opened its doors to us and has allowed thousands of passengers from all over Latin America to connect with Spain, as well as boosting the arrival of tourists to Colombia and the region. This operation and its growth is in addition to what we already offer under our point-to-point strategy, through which we connect Madrid with cities such as Medellín and Cali with direct flights. This way we make flying for everyone while maintaining differential attributes such as our connectivity to Europe in double-aisle aircraft,” said David Alemán, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia and South America.

Currently, the airline has a robust operation from Colombia to Spain via Madrid and Bogota, and from June 20 to September 21 will also add direct flights between San Salvador and Madrid with an offer of 6 flights per week, operated by Wamos Air.
