Delta exercises purchase options for 12 Airbus A220-300 jets

Delta Air Lines reported Thursday that it exercised purchase options for 12 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, continuing the streamlining of its fuel-efficient fleet. With 70 aircraft still to be delivered, the airline’s A220 fleet will total 131 aircraft.

“The A220-300 offers efficient performance and flexibility,” said Kristen Bojko, Vice President of Fleet. “The continued expansion of Delta’s A220 family is an integral investment in the future of sustainable aviation.”

This narrow-body aircraft has 12 First Class seats, 30 in Delta Comfort+ and 88 in Main Cabin.

Delta took delivery of its first Airbus A220 in October 2018 and was the first U.S. airline to operate this aircraft type. The airline, the world’s largest A220 operator, currently has 16 A220-300s in its fleet. It also operates a fleet of 45 A220-100 aircraft.
