Nigeria suspends operations of Max Air’s Boeing 737s
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has ordered the immediate suspension of all Max Air Boeing 737s due to serious safety concerns. The aviation regulator sent a letter informing the airline of this decision, resulting in the disruption of the carrier’s domestic operations.
Max Air’s 737s have been involved in four serious incidents in the past three months, including two tire blowouts on landing, fuel contamination, an aborted takeoff and an emergency landing due to an indication of a duct in the cockpit overheating. The NCAA has made a conscious decision to ground the aircraft, pending investigations.

According to the Planespotters database, Max Air currently has six Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet, of which five are 737-300s and one is a 737-400. Both models have been involved in the aforementioned incidents.
The results of the audit and investigations will determine whether the 737s are allowed to return to the skies. Although the airline operates primarily narrow-body aircraft, it also has two Boeing 747-400s in its fleet and a Boeing 777-200, Simple Flying reported.
