Delta celebrates 25 years of operations in Central America
Delta Air Lines celebrated its 25th anniversary of service to four Central American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama. The airline’s flights have been connecting travelers between thriving tourist and business destinations and the airline’s extensive route network in the U.S. and points around the world.
Throughout the airline’s 25-year history in Central America, Delta staff have forged strong ties with local communities and partners as travelers have discovered destinations and travel and tourism have grown.

“We thank our customers for choosing Delta, and we thank our teams for helping make these routes a success,” said Agustin Durand, Delta’s General Sales Manager for Central America and the Caribbean.
Delta currently offers an average of 123 flights per week between the United States and the four Central American countries.
COSTA RICA
Since Delta began service to the country’s capital, San Jose, in 1998, and later to the coastal region of Guanacaste (Liberia), it has transported more than 2.4 million people on these routes. Currently, the airline offers up to 39 weekly flights on four routes from the U.S. to San Jose and Guanacaste.
PANAMA
Cradled by the Pacific Ocean and the Panama Canal, Panama’s modern and beautiful capital city boasts numerous attractions. Delta offers nine weekly flights between Panama City and its Atlanta base.
GUATEMALA
The airline serves Guatemala City with daily flights to its Los Angeles and Atlanta hubs.
EL SALVADOR
Delta currently offers 14 weekly flights to San Salvador from its Atlanta and Los Angeles bases.
