GOL Linhas Aéreas sees the upcoming austral summer high season, which runs from December 2023 to March 2024, as an opportunity to reinforce its leadership in the supply of flights to South America, increasing takeoffs between the main tourist destinations in Brazil and the cities in the region where it has operations, such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, Montevideo and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
During this period, the airline will operate 3,500 flights in South America. Compared to the July 2023 peak season, the airline’s flight offer in South America has increased by 70%.
In overall numbers, for the period from December 2023 to March 2024, GOL has 4,353 international operations planned, with an offer of 800,000 seats, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last summer. In January alone, we will offer 1,400 flights and 260,000 seats in international operations, totaling 32 markets served, with the addition of 13 new routes compared to October 2023.
All the novelties presented by the company are part of the “Get to know Brazil by Flying” program of the Ministry of Tourism, which aims to stimulate travel in the country by increasing the connectivity of the national and international air network.
Brasilia-Buenos Aires
It is from Brasilia International Airport, one of GOL’s main hubs, that most of the company’s flights to Miami and Orlando, in the United States, take off. The novelty is that, during the summer, Brasilia will also have seasonal flights to Buenos Aires: there will be 4 weekly frequencies to and from Ezeiza airport, between January 2 and February 14.
Multiple connections between Northeast Brazil and Buenos Aires
GOL currently leads the international offer from the Northeast of Brazil to Argentina, flying year-round between 6 capitals of this region and Buenos Aires, which allows great flexibility for leisure travelers between the two countries. For the high summer season, the airline’s flight offer has grown by 138% and includes up to 21 weekly flights between the northeast coast and the Argentine capital.
Currently, GOL operates 1 weekly flight between Buenos Aires and Salvador, Maceió, Recife, Fortaleza, Natal and João Pessoa. During the high summer season, there will be 2 weekly flights between the Argentine capital (Ezeiza) and the airports of Fortaleza, Recife, Natal and Maceió, while Salvador will have 3 weekly flights.
→ GOL and Air France-KLM extend and enhance their commercial partnership
Another highlight will be the launch, on December 16, of the Buenos Aires-Porto Seguro flight, which will bring tourists from abroad to one of the most acclaimed destinations in the south of Bahia, located on the Costa do Descobrimento, a point of easy access to places such as Trancoso, Arraial d’Ajuda, Caraíva and Santa Cruz Cabrália.
Brazilians from the northeast who travel to Buenos Aires with GOL and want to visit more than just the Argentine capital have the option of making connections at Ezeiza with cities such as Mendoza, Bariloche, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Córdoba, Salta and Iguazú, among others, through the partnership between GOL and Aerolíneas Argentinas.
Santa Catarina-Argentina
GOL also leads the offer of international flights in Santa Catarina. The already consolidated route from Florianópolis to Buenos Aires is operated by the company every day of the year to Aeroparque. For the high season, it will have up to 3 additional daily flights between Florianópolis and Ezeiza on peak traffic days, totaling up to 4 daily frequencies between the capital of Santa Catarina and the vibrant Argentine capital.
Also in Florianópolis, GOL will resume its seasonal operation to Córdoba. There will be 3 weekly flights between January 1 and February 13. The summer will also see the return of the airline’s operations between Córdoba and São Paulo/Guarulhos, with 3 weekly flights, reinforcing the existing connection between Argentina’s second largest city and RIOgaleão airport.
Passengers traveling from Cordoba to São Paulo/Guarulhos will find connections to all Brazilian regions and abroad at this GOL hub – and Brazil’s busiest airport – with the company’s own and its partner airlines.
The airline also launches a seasonal route from Buenos Aires/Ezeiza to Navegantes/Balneário Camboriú, an exclusive GOL operation during the high season. Between January 3 and February 17, there will be 5 weekly frequencies in both directions; starting February 18, after Carnival, the route will have 3 weekly round-trip flights until March 30.
New seasonal route Confins-Buenos Aires
Between December 16, 2023 and February 18, 2024, a new seasonal GOL route will facilitate the flow between the state of Minas Gerais and Argentina. The direct flight Belo Horizonte/Confins – Buenos Aires/Ezeiza will have 1 frequency per week.
From Brazil to Bolivia and Uruguay
One of GOL’s most frequented international routes, São Paulo/Guarulhos – Santa Cruz de la Sierra will increase from the current 7 weekly flights to 11 frequencies between December 16 and February 6. This increase will respond to the high demand from Brazilians seeking adventure tourism and historical attractions in Bolivia.
A new seasonal route is the Rio de Janeiro/Galeão – Montevideo, in addition to the regular São Paulo/Guarulhos-Montevideo route (up to 2 daily flights), operated throughout the year. Between Rio and the Uruguayan capital, there will be 4 weekly flights from the end of December until Carnival.
“During the upcoming summer season, a period characterized mainly by leisure travel, this power of connecting countries such as Argentina, Uruguay and Bolivia with the most diverse Brazilian tourist poles, from beaches to mountains and jungles, will gain even more strength and options with the capillarity found by passengers in the company’s main hubs, such as Guarulhos, Brasília and Salvador,” says Bruno Balan, Strategic Planning Manager of GOL’s Airline Network.
