Air India modifies its Airbus aircraft order

Air India has modified the mega order for 250 aircraft it placed with Airbus this year.

The airline had ordered 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo aircraft, which was changed to 140 A321neo and 70 A320neo. The order for widebody aircraft, which included six A350-900s and 34 A350-1000s, was changed to 20 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s.

“We periodically review our order book based on business needs and opportunities, and exercise contractual flexibilities as appropriate,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Tata Group, which took control of Air India in January 2022, had placed orders for 470 aircraft with Airbus and Boeing worth $70 billion earlier this year. The order placed by the airline with Boeing was for 220 aircraft, which included 190 737 MAXs, 20 787 Dreamliners and 10 777Xs.
