The Dominican airline Arajet received its ninth Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft named “Bahía de las Águilas” as a way of promoting this protected area located in the Jaragua National Park in the province of Pedernales.
The welcoming ceremony was held at Las Americas International Airport and was led by Victor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and Founder of Arajet, who was accompanied by Sigmund Freund, Director General of the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) and the Pro-Pedernales Trust.

Pacheco Méndez explained that the airline names its aircraft after protected areas in the Dominican Republic as part of its social responsibility policy to promote the importance of preserving and caring for the environment.
“It is an honor for Arajet to be able to name an aircraft after Bahía de las Águilas, one of the most beautiful corners of our country, and a destination that the State has been promoting in this administration to bring development and hope to the Dominicans of the deep south,” said Pacheco, who added that “we are committed to increasing the country’s connectivity and the arrival of visitors by highlighting the main attractions of the local tourist offer so that they can explore Bahía de las Águilas”.
Bahía de las Águilas, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with a 185-seat configuration, landed on Dominican soil directly from the Boeing factory in Seattle, United States, and together with Pico Duarte, Valle Nuevo, Jaragua, Ojos Indígena, Los Tres Ojos, Isla Saona, Lago Enriquillo and Laguna Redonda continue to increase Arajet’s capacity and fleet.
