Panama: Tocumen Airport handled more than 4.5 million passengers in first quarter of 2024

Tocumen International Airport, Panama City, handled 4,596,353 passengers during the first quarter of this year, 311,557 more than the same period of 2023. In the month of March, 1,647,925 passengers were processed.

“We are having a good year and are prepared to face a robust increase in demand for regional and global air transportation in the coming months,” said Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport.

According to data provided by the Tocumen International Airport Statistics Department, the markets with the greatest regional movement in March were South America with 44%, followed by North America with 29%, the Caribbean with 11%, Central America with 11%, and the European markets with 5%.

Tocumen International Airport is served by 32 airlines, 17 passenger airlines and 15 cargo airlines.

Destinations and Markets

In terms of international connections, in March Tocumen maintained direct routes to 87 destinations, through 17 commercial airlines offering services to the main cities in the Americas and Europe.

March results indicate that of the total number of passengers using the Tocumen terminal, 76% were connecting passengers. In addition, 13,073 aircraft movements were handled.

Cargo Terminals

As for the cargo terminal, 17,758 metric tons of merchandise were mobilized during the third month of the year 2024.
