Iberia celebrates its 97th birthday this Friday and celebrates it with the biggest sweepstakes in its history. From today until July 12, the airline will raffle 174 round-trip tickets: 12 in Business Class and 162 in Economy Class, equivalent to the seats of an Airbus A320.

To participate in this sweepstakes, all you have to do is go to Espacio Iberia, located at Gran Vía 48 (Madrid). Once there, they must fill in their data and choose the European destination they want to travel to. In this way, they access the digital game created for this occasion, which simulates the interior of an airplane, and where a button activates the seats until it stops at one. If the seat is free, the participant automatically gets his prize.

Each winner will receive two tickets, valid for one year, to travel to any of the 59 European destinations served by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum).

97 years connecting people

On June 28, 1927, the airline was born, when before a notary in Madrid the deed of incorporation of a corporation was formalized under the name Iberia, Compañía Aérea de Transportes, and with the purpose of “establishing and operating peninsular and mainly international air traffic lines”.

Iberia’s first president was businessman Horacio Echevarrieta, and it began operations six months later, on December 14, 1927, between Barcelona and Madrid with three Rohrbach Roland aircraft.
