LATAM Airlines passenger demand grew 17.6% in June
The LATAM Airlines group grew 15.9% in consolidated capacity measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) in June, as a result of a 25.2% increase in international service and a 9.4% increase in the domestic offerings of its subsidiaries in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
The domestic subsidiary in Brazil also performed well, with an increase of 5.7% despite the closure of the Porto Alegre airport due to flooding in May.
In terms of traffic measured in revenue passenger-kilometers (RPK), in June there was an increase of 17.6%, due to a 25.5% increase in demand in the international segment, an 11.5% increase in domestic demand in the Chilean, Colombian, Ecuadorian and Peruvian subsidiaries, and an 8.6% increase in domestic demand in the Brazilian subsidiary.
The consolidated occupancy factor for the month of June was 84.2%, which represents an increase of 1.2 percentage points with respect to the same month of 2023. The solid performance of the international segment’s occupancy factor, which reached 85.4%, is noteworthy.

On the other hand, the group transported more than 6.5 million passengers in June of this year alone, 10.3% more than in the same month of 2023. During the second quarter, the group carried 19.1 million passengers, 11.7% more than in the same quarter of the previous year.
In cargo, the LATAM group’s capacity, measured in available ton-kilometers (ATK), increased by 17.2% compared to June 2023, reaching 670 million available ton-kilometers.
Porto Alegre Airport Closure
As a result of flooding in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, the Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre (POA), closed indefinitely in May 2024. This forced LATAM Airlines Brazil to cancel its entire operation at the airport, represented by 24 daily frequencies on average at the end of April 2024.
Between May and June, the group has allocated 12% of this capacity to other markets, both domestic and international, and expects to resume 100% of this capacity to other airports or routes next August.
