Delta Announces New Direct Route Between Los Angeles and Melbourne

Delta Air Lines strengthens its presence in Australia and the South Pacific with the launch of a new nonstop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Melbourne starting in December 2025.

Connectivity and First-Class Experience

Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, highlighted: “The new service to Melbourne reflects our commitment to connecting customers with the world’s most exciting destinations. As the largest airline at LAX, we take pride in offering a top-tier experience.”

With this new route, Melbourne becomes Delta’s third nonstop destination in Australia, joining Sydney and Brisbane. Additionally, it expands its reach in the South Pacific to five cities, including Auckland and Papeete.

A Premium Experience from LAX

Delta has transformed the experience at Los Angeles International Airport with a $2.3 billion investment. The renovation includes the state-of-the-art Terminal 3 and the Sky Way at LAX, featuring a 1.2-million-square-foot space and 27 gates.

Delta One travelers enjoy access to the Delta One Lounge, which offers luxury service, premium dining, a wellness area, and direct security access via digital identification. The airline also facilitates connections to over 40 cities across the U.S., including New York (JFK), Boston, Seattle, and Atlanta.

A New Standard in Long-Haul Travel

This route will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, which offers four cabin options:

  • Delta One Suites: Privacy, 180° lie-flat seats, bedding made from recycled materials, handcrafted amenity kits, and chef-curated menus.
  • Delta Premium Select: Wider seats with greater recline, an adjustable footrest, and an enhanced dining experience.
  • Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin: Superior comfort and access to a refreshed selection of food and beverages.

All passengers can enjoy Delta Studio, featuring over 1,000 hours of free onboard entertainment.
