Air Europa continues to bet on technological innovation to enhance its passengers’ experience. In its latest advancement, the airline has implemented the Foundspot system, a solution developed by the Spanish company of the same name, which optimizes the location and recovery of items left behind on its aircraft.

How Does Foundspot Work?

The Foundspot system operates through an advanced artificial intelligence algorithm designed to streamline the identification and return of lost belongings. Passengers who notice a missing item can access a platform enabled by Air Europa and Foundspot, where they register their case by providing details such as a description of the item, the probable location where it was left, and the approximate date.

Once the data is entered, Foundspot’s technology compares the provided information with the items found and stored by Air Europa staff. If a match is detected, the airline’s employees verify the authenticity of the find. If positive, the passenger receives an email with a form to complete the recovery process and coordinate the shipment of the item to any destination worldwide via courier.

System availability and benefits

The service is already operational in major Spanish airports, including: Madrid-Barajas, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Málaga, Valencia, Alicante, Bilbao, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote.

The implementation of Foundspot not only reduces the time taken to locate lost items but also optimizes storage space in the airline’s facilities. Thanks to this technology, the return rate has increased between 80% and 400%, minimizing the need for passengers to replace lost items.

Another Step in Air Europa’s Digitalization

The adoption of Foundspot reinforces Air Europa’s commitment to digitalization and improving customer relations. This initiative adds to other innovative solutions implemented by the airline, such as the system that allows splitting ticket payments among several people or credit cards, making it easier to purchase tickets.

The user-centric approach and service optimization have led Air Europa to be recognized by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), which recently awarded the airline a four-star rating in recognition of its high standards of quality and passenger care.
