The Dominican airline Arajet announced this Monday the start of ticket sales for its new route connecting Santo Domingo with Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. Flights will begin on June 16 and will offer round-trip fares starting at US$262.
The route will have 4 weekly frequencies (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) and will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Flights will depart from Santo Domingo at 06:18, arriving in Newark at 10:30. From New Jersey, flights will take off at 12:00 (local time), landing in the Dominican capital at 16:30 (local time).
This new route by Arajet represents a milestone in Dominican aviation, as it has been over 30 years since a Dominican airline operated direct flights to the New York area. The Dominican community in this region is the largest in the diaspora, making this market a priority for the airline’s expansion.

“Arajet is committed to making flights accessible and affordable for both the Dominican community and American tourists. New York is a key market to strengthen our presence in the United States,” said Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet.
Official Presentation in Washington Heights
The announcement was made at the Gregorio Luperón School, located in Washington Heights, a neighborhood with a large Dominican population. Key figures such as Congressman Adriano Espaillat and the Dominican consuls in New York and New Jersey, Jesús Vázquez and José Santana, attended the event.
Congressman Espaillat emphasized that the new route is the result of years of work to improve air connectivity and reduce costs for the Dominican community in New York. Similarly, the consuls highlighted the efforts of the Luis Abinader government to boost the competitiveness of the aviation sector, including the signing of the Open Skies agreement and the approval of a new aviation law.
Beyond Santo Domingo: 24 Additional Destinations
Once in the Dominican capital, travelers can enjoy the country’s cultural richness or connect to 24 additional destinations in Arajet’s network, including Santiago de Chile, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lima, Mexico City, among others.
With this expansion, Arajet reinforces its commitment to offering affordable flights and strengthening connectivity between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
