LATAM to Resume Flights Between Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro for Austral Winter Season

LATAM Airlines Brazil announced this Monday the return of its seasonal route between Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro for the Austral winter season, operating daily flights from June 23 to August 31, 2024. This reactivation aims to reconnect two of South America’s most popular destinations, facilitating travel for tourists and frequent passengers.

The service will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, with a capacity for 12 passengers in Premium Economy and 162 in Economy.

The airline expects to transport around 19,500 passengers during the operation period of this route, which has been specially scheduled to meet the demand of the high season.

LATAM Airlines Fleet Grew 12% in the Last Two Years

According to Florencia Scardaccione, Commercial Manager of LATAM in Argentina, “In March 2024 was the last time we operated flights between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. This seasonal operation allows us to bring one of the favorite destinations of Argentines in Brazil closer, expanding options for our customers.”

Other LATAM Routes Between Argentina and Brazil

In addition to the service between Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, LATAM will maintain its operation on several key routes between both countries:

  • São Paulo/Guarulhos – Buenos Aires/Aeroparque: 35 weekly flights.
  • São Paulo/Guarulhos – Buenos Aires/Ezeiza: 5 weekly flights.
  • São Paulo/Guarulhos – Mendoza: 4 weekly flights.
  • São Paulo/Guarulhos – Bariloche: 7 weekly flights.

The return of this route reinforces LATAM’s growth strategy in Argentina. During 2024, the airline has transported more than two million passengers in the country and currently represents 22% of regional passenger transport to and from Argentina, according to data from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) of January 2024.
