China Airlines has announced a firm order with Airbus for the acquisition of ten A350-1000 aircraft, confirming the commitment made by the airline in December 2024. This move strengthens its international growth strategy and enhances connectivity on long-haul routes to North America and Europe.
China Airlines Chairman Kao Shing-Hwang emphasized the significance of this investment: “Our commitment to the A350-1000 reflects our dedication to operational excellence and passenger satisfaction. We are confident that this model, with its fuel efficiency and superior comfort, will be pivotal in transforming our long-haul operations.”
Seamless Integration with the Existing Fleet
The Taiwanese airline already operates 15 A350-900 aircraft on its transcontinental routes to Europe and the United States, as well as select routes within Asia and the Pacific. With the addition of the A350-1000, China Airlines ensures full operational compatibility within its fleet, optimizing efficiency and crew training.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, applauded the airline’s decision: “We welcome China Airlines as a new operator of the A350-1000. Its pioneering role in adopting advanced aviation technologies is further reinforced by the selection of this model, which stands out for its superior performance on long-range flights.”
Efficiency and Sustainability: The Hallmarks of the A350-1000
The A350-1000 is recognized as the most modern and efficient wide-body aircraft on the market. Designed for intercontinental flights, it boasts the longest range among commercial aircraft in production, capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers). Additionally, its advanced aerodynamics and state-of-the-art Rolls-Royce engines reduce fuel consumption by 25% compared to previous models, thereby lowering its carbon footprint.
In line with its environmental commitment, Airbus has designed the A350 to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and aims to achieve 100% SAF compatibility by 2030.
China Airlines Strengthens Its Global Market Position
The Taiwanese airline has solidified its presence in the industry with a diverse fleet of Airbus and Boeing passenger aircraft, including 15 A350-900s, 15 A321neos, 16 A330s, 10 Boeing 737-800s, and 10 777-300s.
This strategic move not only reinforces the airline’s position in the global market but also underscores its commitment to more efficient and sustainable aviation.
