Lufthansa Group has achieved its goal of having at least 25% of women in management positions by the first quarter of 2025. This milestone is part of the “25by2025” initiative promoted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which aims to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in the aviation sector.
Commitment to Diversity in Aviation
Six years ago, IATA launched the ambitious “25by2025” goal, which has been adopted by over 200 companies in the aviation industry. Lufthansa Group, as one of the world’s leading airlines, has demonstrated its commitment to this objective by increasing female representation in its management levels.
Michael Niggemann, a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and responsible for Human Resources and Legal Affairs, expressed his satisfaction with this progress: “We are delighted to have increased the proportion of women in leadership positions to over 25%. We know there is still much to be done, and although progress may seem small and laborious, it is essential and necessary for sustainable development without gender discrimination.”

Niggemann also highlighted the growth of female participation in the technological field within the group, an area traditionally dominated by men.
Figures and Strategies for the Future
Currently, the percentage of women in the three management levels below the Executive Board of Lufthansa Group reaches 25.3%. To continue this progress, the company has implemented a global program aimed at women in management positions. Among its key strategies are talent promotion programs and guidelines to increase the visibility of female candidates in selection processes.
A Model for the Airline Industry
The path towards gender equality in aviation continues to present challenges, but Lufthansa Group positions itself as a benchmark in the transformation of the sector. Its structured approach and commitment to promoting female talent reinforce its role as an airline that bets on sustainable and inclusive development.
With these advancements, Lufthansa not only responds to IATA’s “25by2025” initiative but also drives a more equitable and diverse corporate culture, setting the standard for the future of global aviation.
