Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has decided to transform its first Airbus A350-900 into a true flying work of art. The Swiss airline has introduced its new and striking livery called “SWISS Wanderlust”, a unique visual proposal that pays homage to the history, culture, and landscapes of Switzerland. This design not only reflects the nation’s identity but also offers passengers and aviation enthusiasts an interactive experience like never before.
A Design with History and Personality
The creativity behind the “SWISS Wanderlust” design comes from Swiss artist Frédéric Siegel, known for his illustrations and animations. Siegel has turned this Airbus A350-900 into the world’s first flying art gallery, combining traditional and modern elements of Switzerland with a vibrant and captivating style.
On the fuselage and engines of the aircraft, iconic figures such as Freddie Mercury, the female representation of Helvetia, and a charming alpine marmot can be seen. These illustrations symbolize different facets of Swiss identity: from musical and cultural heritage to the country’s nature and history.

More Than a Design: An Interactive Experience
In addition to being a visual delight, the “SWISS Wanderlust” design offers an innovative digital experience. Passengers and airline followers can access the “SWISS Treasure Hunt” platform, where they can explore the design details in augmented reality, solve puzzles, and participate in a contest to win an exclusive round-trip Business Class journey on the new Airbus A350.
Efficiency and Sustainability: A New Chapter for SWISS
The arrival of the Airbus A350-900 marks the beginning of a new era for SWISS. With the addition of ten units of this state-of-the-art aircraft in the coming years, the airline is betting on a more efficient and sustainable fleet. Thanks to its advanced design, the model offers lower fuel consumption and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, aligning with the company’s commitment to the environment.
The first Airbus A350-900 with the “SWISS Wanderlust” livery will enter service at the end of the summer, carrying the essence of Switzerland to destinations around the world.
