Alaska Airlines continues to bet big on San Diego. The airline announced a significant expansion of its route network from this California city, with a 30% increase in total flights and the addition of three new nonstop destinations: Phoenix, Chicago O’Hare, and Denver.
New Nonstop Routes: More Options for Travelers
Starting August 20, passengers can fly nonstop between San Diego and Phoenix with three daily frequencies operated by Boeing 737 aircraft. Then, beginning October 4, direct flights to Chicago O’Hare and Denver will be added, also with three daily departures. For Denver, operations will combine Boeing 737 and Embraer 175 aircraft.
Increased Frequencies on Key Routes Starting in October
The expansion doesn’t stop at new destinations. Beginning October 26, Alaska Airlines will significantly increase frequencies on several high-demand routes. Connections to Las Vegas, Sacramento, and San Jose (California) will rise from 4 to 6 daily flights, while Salt Lake City will go from 1 to 3 daily flights.

Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Air Group, emphasized: “These exciting additions to our network further expand our ability to take San Diegans directly where they want to go, better than any other airline, with our premium onboard service and global loyalty program.”
With this expansion, Alaska Airlines strengthens its leadership in San Diego while reaffirming its commitment to West Coast connectivity and continuously improving the traveler experience.
