Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines has confirmed it will launch direct flights between Taipei and Phoenix, Arizona, beginning in February 2026, pending final government approval. This will mark the first-ever direct air link between Asia and the U.S. city, setting a milestone in commercial aviation for the region.
The news was announced following a statement by Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, published on the Sky Harbor Airport website. According to Gallego, Starlux will offer three to four weekly flights, addressing the growing demand for international connectivity driven by the city’s technological and economic development.
“Phoenix’s first direct flight to Asia reflects the incredible progress of our local economy and our emergence as an international city,” Gallego stated.

The launch of this route is not an isolated event. It coincides with the rapid growth of economic ties between Taiwan and Arizona, particularly after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) made a historic $165 billion investment to produce semiconductors in the region.
TSMC already operates a large-scale chip manufacturing facility in Phoenix. A second facility is nearing completion, and a third held its groundbreaking ceremony last month. This expansion has created thousands of high-paying jobs and elevated Phoenix’s profile as a global hub for industrial innovation.
Starlux Chairman Chang Kuo-Wei emphasized Phoenix’s potential as a key destination: “From the moment I set foot in Phoenix, I knew we had to invest here. Not only is business between Taipei and Phoenix growing, but the city also aligns perfectly with our service standards. We are proud to be the first airline to offer direct flights from Asia for this community.”
Initially, the flights will be operated using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, configured with 306 seats. Ticket sales will begin once final regulatory approval is obtained.
