LATAM Airlines inaugurated two new international routes between Brazil and Argentina on Monday, June 23, with an average occupancy rate of 90% on the initial flights. The new connections link Rio de Janeiro/Galeão to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza and São Paulo/Guarulhos to Bariloche. These operations reinforce the airline’s strategy to enhance connectivity in South America, amid high tourist demand between the two countries.

Bariloche: Betting on Argentina’s Winter Season

The Guarulhos–Bariloche route is specifically designed for the winter season, one of the peak periods for tourist travel to southern Argentina. This seasonal operation will run with daily flights until August 31.

The inaugural flight was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Guarulhos Airport, attended by Aline Mafra, LATAM Brazil’s Sales and Marketing Director, and Cláudio Ferreira, GRU Airport’s Customer and New Business Director.

“The new Bariloche route underscores GRU Airport’s strategic role in international connections. During winter, Bariloche is one of the top destinations for Brazilian tourists, and the revival of this direct operation enhances connectivity and offers greater convenience for passengers,” said Ferreira.

LATAM Strengthens Its International Commitment from Bogotá with New Routes and Increased Flights

Rio–Buenos Aires: Continuous Connectivity Until 2026

Meanwhile, the regular route between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires launched with daily flights and is initially planned to operate until March 2026. This connection represents a firm step in LATAM’s commitment to strengthening tourism and business ties between the two countries’ major cities.

“The strong demand observed in travel between Brazil and Argentina highlights the strategic importance of these connections in our airline network. This initial success demonstrates our dedication to improving regional connectivity and delivering excellent service focused on efficiency and passenger satisfaction,” stated Aline Mafra.

LATAM Expands to Seven Brazil–Argentina Routes

In addition to these two new routes, LATAM announced that it will launch four more direct connections between Brazil and Argentina in 2025:

  • Guarulhos–Córdoba
  • Guarulhos–Rosario
  • Florianópolis–Buenos Aires/Ezeiza
  • Porto Alegre–Buenos Aires/Aeroparque

With these additions, the company will operate a total of seven direct routes between the two countries by early 2026, solidifying its binational presence and meeting the growing demand for enhanced air connectivity.

Codeshare with Aerolíneas Argentinas: An Expanded South American Network

As part of its regional expansion strategy, LATAM has also advanced its codeshare agreements with Aerolíneas Argentinas. This partnership allows both airlines to sell tickets for domestic flights operated by the other, provided passengers connect to an international flight.

Thanks to this collaboration, customers now have access to over 100 interconnected destinations across South America, including domestic routes in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.
