Mexicana Takes a Major Step in Modernization: Receives First Embraer E195-E2

Mexicana, the Mexican state-owned airline, received its first Embraer E195-E2 aircraft this Monday. The plane, which departed from the manufacturer’s headquarters in Brazil en route to Mexico, marks a key milestone in the airline’s modernization process and strengthens the growing presence of the E2 family in Latin America.

A Strategic Investment to Enhance Connectivity

This new E195-E2 is the first of a total order of 20 E-Jets E2 aircraft confirmed by Mexicana in 2024. The agreement includes 10 units of the E190-E2 model and another 10 of the E195-E2. With this move, the airline aims to bolster its regional connectivity and improve operational efficiency in an increasingly competitive market.

Leobardo Bojorquez, CEO of Mexicana, emphasized the significance of this step: “This delivery marks a new chapter for Mexicana. The performance, operational economy, and passenger appeal make the E2 the perfect aircraft to support our growth strategy. We are excited to offer this new level of service and efficiency to our customers.”

Features of the E195-E2: Efficiency, Comfort, and Sustainability

Mexicana’s new aircraft will feature a single-cabin configuration, eliminating middle seats to ensure a more comfortable and spacious experience for passengers.

The E195-E2 incorporates advanced technologies that represent a leap in fuel savings and emission reductions. Thanks to its optimized aerodynamics, next-generation engines, and upgraded systems, this model consumes 29% less fuel than its predecessor.

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted the E2’s value for Mexicana’s strategy: “We are proud to deliver the first E2 to Mexicana and support its mission of connecting more communities in Mexico with greater efficiency and comfort. The E2 is the world’s most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft and aligns perfectly with Mexicana’s network and sustainability goals.”

Cutting-Edge Technology for a Safer and More Efficient Future

The E190-E2 and E195-E2 are part of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, renowned for their low noise levels, reduced emissions, and best-in-class operational economy. Additionally, they feature full fly-by-wire technology, which reduces pilot workload and enhances operational safety.

Mexicana will benefit from comprehensive support from Embraer’s Services and Support team, ensuring high aircraft availability and solid operational reliability from day one.

With the arrival of this first E195-E2, Mexicana begins a new chapter in its history, betting on a more modern, efficient fleet focused on delivering an enhanced passenger experience on every flight.
