UNI Air, a subsidiary of the EVA Air Group, has signed a firm order for 19 ATR 72-600 aircraft, with an option for three additional units, marking the largest order placed with ATR since 2017. This acquisition also represents the second direct order by UNI Air since 2011, when it purchased ten of the same model for its fleet.
The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2032. They will not only expand but also gradually replace the 14 ATR 72-600s currently in operation, underscoring a clear commitment to fleet modernization and the airline’s operational growth.
Modernization with Impact: A New Generation of Efficiency
The new ATR 72-600s will be equipped with next-generation PW127XT engines, a redesigned cockpit, and a new air management system. These technological innovations will significantly improve fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the passenger experience—all while maintaining high levels of operational reliability.
This strategic move strengthens UNI Air’s competitive position in the domestic Taiwanese market, where it already has a well-established presence.

Essential Connectivity from Taipei
Operating primarily from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air plays a vital role in Taiwan’s regional connectivity. With regular flights to 11 destinations—including the islands of Kinmen, Penghu, and Matsu—the airline serves essential routes for residents, tourists, and commercial sectors alike.
UNI Air’s ATR aircraft not only operate direct routes but also feed domestic and international hubs, bolstering the country’s integrated transportation network. This combination of operational efficiency and low emissions positions the airline as a key player in sustainable regional mobility.
UNI Air President Solomon Lin emphasized: “This order is a key step in our strategy to enhance domestic air services. We are investing in a young and modern fleet to serve the local market with the highest standards of comfort and reliability. ATR aircraft have proven unbeatable in terms of economy, efficiency, and accessibility to airports. As we continue to expand our operations, ATR remains our preferred partner.”
Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude, CEO of ATR, added: “UNI Air makes a real difference for the communities it serves. We are delighted to renew this strategic partnership and support its expansion. This order reaffirms the importance of our aircraft in efficient and sustainable regional aviation networks.”
