Virgin Australia has reached a pivotal milestone in its history with the launch of its first long-haul route in years: the inaugural service between Sydney and Doha. This new connection provides Australian travelers access to over 170 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa through Qatar Airways’ global network.
Strategic Expansion with Immediate Impact
This new service is part of the strategic evolution of the partnership between Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways. Operations will not be limited to Sydney: flights from Brisbane will begin on June 19, from Perth on June 26, and from Melbourne in December 2025. This expansion strengthens connectivity between Australia and six continents, offering passengers more options and greater value.
According to announced plans, by December 2025, the total flight capacity between Australia and Doha will reach 2.65 million seats annually. This growth enhances market competitiveness and significantly expands opportunities for Australians looking to travel abroad.
