The Canadian airline Air Transat has announced an expansion strategy with 14 new routes and a 6% increase in capacity for the 2025-2026 winter season.
New Routes to South America and Europe
Starting February 4, 2026, travelers can fly from Toronto to Rio de Janeiro twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays), while Montreal will offer a weekly flight every Thursday. These operations will be carried out using Airbus A330 aircraft.
From Montreal, in addition to Rio, direct connections to Guadalajara, Valencia, Bordeaux, and Madrid will be launched. Meanwhile, Toronto will add destinations such as Georgetown (Guyana), Medellin via Cartagena, and Istanbul, thanks to its collaboration with Turkish Airlines.
Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer of Transat, stated: “This enhanced winter program represents a significant milestone in the evolution of our network. By focusing on markets we have never served before, we are pursuing a clear diversification strategy toward destinations Canadians want to explore, supported by growing connectivity with our partner network.”
