Southwest Airlines Announces Strategic Partnership with EVA Airways for Transpacific Flights
Southwest Airlines took a new step in its international strategy by announcing an agreement with EVA Airways, which will allow its passengers to access transoceanic flights. The news, shared this Monday through the company’s social media channels, confirms that starting today, customers will be able to book itineraries with the Taiwanese airline from four key U.S. airports: Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco.
Expansion of International Connectivity
The agreement with EVA Airways becomes the second partnership Southwest has established with a Taiwanese carrier in August. The Dallas-based company had already confirmed an interline agreement with China Airlines, set to take effect in January 2026.

That agreement with China Airlines was described as a model for future collaborations, including the possibility of earning and redeeming miles across frequent flyer programs, the development of code-share agreements, and joint co-branding initiatives.
A Strategy Focused on the Frequent Traveler
With this new partnership, Southwest aims to strengthen its position in long-haul routes, a market where it has so far had limited presence. Access to flights operated by EVA Airways and, in the future, the additional benefits arising from cooperation with China Airlines, represent a key step toward attracting passengers who value seamless connectivity and more robust loyalty programs.
