Copa Airlines resumed its operations to Salta, Argentina, this Tuesday after a suspension of more than five years caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This move reinforces the Panamanian carrier’s strategy of consolidating the Hub of the Americas in Panama City as Latin America’s primary connecting center.

Salta, a Destination with Unique Charm

Known as “Salta la Linda” (Salta the Beautiful), this Argentine city is distinguished by its well-preserved colonial center, rich cultural tradition, and surprising natural surroundings. Among its main attractions is the “Tren a las Nubes” (Train to the Clouds), a unique journey that crosses the Andes mountain range at over 4,000 meters (approximately 13,100 feet) of altitude.

Operation Details

The airline will offer three weekly frequencies between Panama and Salta:

  • From Panama: Departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 4:40 PM (local time), arriving in Salta at 00:24 the following day.
  • From Salta: Departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2:01 AM, arriving at Tocumen International Airport at 5:30 AM (local time).

The flights will be operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a capacity for 166 passengers distributed across 16 Business Class seats, 24 Extra Economy seats, and 126 Economy seats.

Expansion in Argentina

The resumption of the Salta route follows the start of flights to Tucumán, scheduled to begin this Wednesday. With these additions, Copa Airlines now serves six destinations within Argentina: Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, Mendoza, Tucumán, and Salta, thereby strengthening its presence in one of the region’s key markets.
