KLM Launches First Airbus A350 Simulator in the Netherlands
KLM has activated the first Airbus A350 simulator in the Netherlands, a key milestone in its preparations for integrating this aircraft model into its fleet, scheduled for late 2026. The company is thus advancing its modernization strategy with a training tool that realistically replicates the aircraft’s systems and procedures.
The simulator was developed by CAE in Montreal, where the acceptance process was also conducted, following a protocol very similar to that for an actual aircraft. In Canada, the cockpit and systems underwent exhaustive testing before being shipped to Europe.

Transporting it to Amsterdam presented a logistical challenge: due to its size, the simulator could not enter through the main door at Schiphol-East and had to be lifted over the fence for final installation. It is now fully operational, and the first group of A350 pilots will begin their training shortly.
The arrival of the A350 at KLM will bring significant improvements in sustainability and efficiency. This model generates up to 40% less noise and consumes 25% less fuel compared to previous-generation aircraft.
