flydubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the acquisition of 150 A321neo aircraft, marking its entry as a new customer for the European manufacturer. The announcement was made during the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, solidifying a key milestone in the evolution of the Emirati airline.
The agreement was signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, in a ceremony that was also attended by Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of the airline.
Supporting Dubai’s Growth Vision
During the event, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted the significance of this deal: “We are pleased to announce a historic agreement for 150 A321neos, which represents another important milestone in flydubai’s journey. This new agreement is not just about adding aircraft. It supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”
He also emphasized that this addition will enable the airline to play a key role in the expansion plans for Dubai World Central airport, with the aim of making it the largest in the world.

A More Efficient and Versatile Fleet
The incorporation of the A321neo, part of the A320neo family, represents a strategic shift for flydubai, diversifying its narrow-body fleet and strengthening its long-term expansion plans. This state-of-the-art aircraft integrates advanced technologies such as new-generation engines, Sharklets, and cabin efficiency improvements, resulting in more than 20% fuel savings and reduced CO₂ emissions compared to previous models.
According to the airline, the A321neos will support the next phase of development of its route network, allowing it to meet growing demand in its markets and offer passengers new destination options with greater efficiency and comfort.
