JetBlue announced a significant expansion of its operations in San Juan on Wednesday, with five new direct routes to Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Richmond, and Buffalo. These services will begin in the spring of 2026 and operate year-round, solidifying the airline’s position as the largest in Puerto Rico. Introductory fares start from $99 one-way on the company’s website.

Marty St. George, the airline’s president, emphasized that Puerto Rico has been key to JetBlue’s identity since 2002. He stressed that this expansion strengthens a bond of more than two decades with the island and creates new opportunities for travelers on both sides of the Caribbean.

Currently, JetBlue moves more seats and offers more destinations between Puerto Rico and the United States than any other airline. With this expansion, it will operate 22 nonstop routes from San Juan and exceed 40 daily flights next spring. The company also recently increased its operations between San Juan and Fort Lauderdale, where it now offers up to six daily frequencies during peak demand periods.

JetBlue and Its Presence on the Island

The airline has maintained a deep relationship with Puerto Rico since the start of its flights in 2002. It has nearly 800 employees on the island, a growing crew operations base for pilots and flight attendants, robust maintenance capabilities, and partnerships with local organizations. Its competitive fares and customer service have made it the preferred choice for many travelers.

Furthermore, JetBlue renewed its cooperative marketing agreement with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) to strengthen demand and the competitiveness of routes connecting San Juan, Ponce, and Aguadilla with cities in the eastern United States and Florida. The strategy includes digital campaigns, promotional emails, and brand positioning actions.

JetBlue also continues to support local communities through collaborations with cultural entities, projects highlighting Puerto Rican artistic talent, and partnerships with youth-focused organizations, including the Ricky Martin Foundation.

A Key Boost for Tourism and Economic Development

JetBlue’s expansion strengthens air access, diversifies the travel options available, and generates new opportunities for travelers and businesses. The combination of additional routes, competitive fares, and a coordinated marketing strategy between the airline and the government reinforces Puerto Rico’s position as a leading destination in the region.
