LOT Polish Airlines (LOT) has inaugurated three strategic routes from Krakow-John Paul II International Airport to Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome. This expansion strengthens connectivity between the Lesser Poland region and Southwestern Europe, boosting both tourism and international business opportunities.

According to Robert Ludera, Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines, Krakow is a vital business hub and a top-tier tourist destination. This status generates a growing demand for direct connections to foster international cooperation.

The commencement of these operations took place today, Monday, marking an evolution from previous connecting services toward a more robust and efficient direct flight offering.

New Routes and Frequency Details

The schedule for these routes has been designed to meet both seasonal and corporate demand, ensuring a consistent year-round presence:

Madrid
This destination represents the airline’s strongest commitment in this expansion. Flights will operate with a frequency of up to six times per week throughout the year, facilitating commercial and tourist exchange with the Spanish capital.

Barcelona
The connection to the Catalan capital will feature up to four weekly flights, maintaining this regularity during both the summer and winter seasons.

Rome
For the Italian capital, the airline offers flexibility adjusted to seasonality:

  • Summer Season: Up to five weekly frequencies.
  • Winter Season: Up to four weekly frequencies.

Increased Operational Capacity and Fleet

To support this growth, LOT will add an additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its Krakow base. With this addition, the carrier will offer a total of 11 destinations from this airport during the Summer 2026 season, consolidating the terminal’s position as a key gateway in Central and Eastern Europe.

In-flight Experience and Comfort

The deployment of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 introduces a modernized cabin standard under the “Pure Polish” concept. The interior design features:

  • Regional Aesthetics: A color gradient inspired by the sunset over the Tatra Mountains.
  • Passenger Comfort: Ergonomic seating and professional service aimed at making the flight a pleasant experience.
  • Baggage Policy: The ticket price includes a carry-on bag of up to 8 kg, aiming to streamline the travel process and avoid additional costs for the user.

This expansion not only improves transport links for the region’s residents but also elevates the traveler experience and opens new doors for business development.
