The oneworld global alliance has officially announced the induction of Hawaiian Airlines as its newest member, establishing Honolulu as a key strategic hub and expanding access to critical destinations across Oceania and North America. With this move, the carrier joins Alaska Airlines and American Airlines as the third U.S.-based operator within the organization.
Network Expansion and Regional Connectivity
The arrival of Hawaiian Airlines strengthens oneworld’s presence in the Pacific region. Passengers now benefit from enhanced connectivity across the Hawaiian Islands and new international destinations, including:
- Hilo, Hawaii
- Rarotonga, Cook Islands
- Pago Pago, American Samoa
- Papeete, Tahiti
The airline operates approximately 230 daily flights, linking the archipelago with key markets in Asia, North America, and the South Pacific. Furthermore, the carrier facilitates direct links to the alliance’s primary hubs, including Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), Seattle (SEA), Sydney (SYD), and Tokyo (HND/NRT).
In terms of operational volume, the company transported over 11 million passengers in 2025 and maintains an average of 140 daily inter-island flights, ensuring unparalleled capillarity within the State of Hawaii through its bases in Honolulu and Kahului.
Exclusive Benefits and the Atmos™ Rewards Program
This integration allows alliance customers to access nearly 1,000 global destinations. Hawaiian Airlines’ elite tier members will now enjoy oneworld Priority benefits, which include:
- Lounge Access: A network of nearly 700 premium lounges worldwide, including branded lounges at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and facilities at Incheon International Airport in Seoul.
- Priority Services: First Class check-in counters, fast-track security lanes, and priority boarding.
- Status Reciprocity: Recognition across Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby tiers.
Through Atmos™ Rewards, the new loyalty program of the combined entity, members can earn and redeem points on both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, as well as across the alliance’s entire global network. This structure is designed to incentivize the flow of both business and leisure travelers through a more seamless and rewarding travel experience.
Leadership Perspectives
Ole Orvér, CEO of oneworld, highlighted the Hawaiian carrier’s nearly century-long heritage, noting that its incorporation will bring the “aloha spirit” and increased connectivity to the alliance’s customers.
On the other hand, Diana Birkett Rakow, CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, emphasized that this union represents significant benefits for Hawaii residents and loyalty program members, integrating the airline into a “family of the best in the world.”
The induction of Hawaiian Airlines into the alliance seeks not only to improve transport logistics but also to inspire visitors to appreciate the culture, environment, and people of Hawaii, all while maintaining the service standards that have characterized the company for decades.
