Starting April 19, 2026, IndiGo will strengthen its global footprint by deploying its second Airbus A321XLR on the strategic route between Delhi and Istanbul.
A Cornerstone of the Internationalization Strategy
The decision to operate this route between Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Istanbul Airport (IST) serves a specific strategic objective: maximizing the codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines.
This alliance provides IndiGo passengers with seamless access to a network spanning more than 50 destinations across Europe and the Americas, consolidating Istanbul as the carrier’s primary transcontinental hub.
Cabin Configuration: The Debut of IndiGoStretch
For the first time, IndiGo will operate a dual-class configuration, elevating comfort standards for both business and leisure travelers. The aircraft will feature a total of 195 seats, configured as follows:
- IndiGoStretch: 12 seats in the airline’s new business class section, custom-designed to offer a premium experience.
- Economy Class: 183 seats optimized for efficient low-cost market operations.
In-flight Experience and Catering Services
The customer experience has been overhauled to align with the long-haul capabilities of the Airbus A321XLR. All passengers will receive complimentary hot meals and beverages inspired by both local and global cuisine.
The airline maintains an inclusive approach with vegetarian options as the default choice, while non-vegetarian meals are available via pre-booking. Regarding alcoholic beverages, these are complimentary for IndiGoStretch customers, while available for purchase or pre-order in Economy Class.
Technology and Efficiency: Airbus A321XLR
IndiGo made history earlier this year by becoming the first Indian operator to induct the Airbus A321XLR into its fleet, initially launching flights to Athens.
This next-generation aircraft stands on three fundamental pillars:
- Enhanced Range: Enables the opening of new, nonstop long-haul markets previously unreachable for narrow-body aircraft.
- Fuel Efficiency: Significantly reduces emissions and operating costs.
- Next-Gen Entertainment: Equipped with a digital Inflight Entertainment (IFE) system allowing users to stream movies, series, games, and anime directly to their personal devices.
Flight Schedule (Effective April 19, 2026)
Flights will operate on a daily basis, ensuring constant connectivity between both hubs.
| Sector | Flight Number | Frequency | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi – Istanbul | 6E 0011 | Daily | 07:30 | 13:55 |
| Istanbul – Delhi | 6E 0012 | Daily | 18:20 | 05:20 (+1) |

The deployment of the second Airbus A321XLR on the Istanbul route underscores IndiGo’s ambition to transform from a dominant domestic carrier into a major player on the international stage.
