Fiji Airways and WestJet Sign Codeshare Agreement to Connect Canada and South Pacific

Fiji Airways and WestJet have announced a new codeshare agreement designed to streamline travel between Canada and the South Pacific under a single booking. This strategic alliance responds to a continuous increase in demand within the Canadian market and will bolster connectivity through the Vancouver (YVR) hub.

Codeshare Agreement Details and Destination Network

As part of this agreement, Fiji Airways will place its code on WestJet’s domestic network, which includes key cities such as Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Halifax. This will provide travelers from these locations with convenient connections from Canada’s major urban centers to Fiji Airways’ international services via its North American gateways.

In turn, WestJet will implement its code on Fiji Airways’ flights operating the Vancouver–Nadi route, extending to strategic destinations in New Zealand including Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. Consequently, passengers of the Canadian carrier gain direct and simplified access to Fiji Airways’ South Pacific network.

Expanded Operations and the Airbus A350 Debut in Vancouver

The collaboration is underpinned by the recent expansion of Fiji Airways’ operations in Vancouver, consolidating the route’s significance within its international network.

“Canada represents a growing and high-value market for Fiji and the wider Pacific. This partnership with WestJet makes it easier than ever for Canadian travelers to experience the warmth, culture, and natural beauty of Fiji, while supporting an increased flow of visitors to our region,” stated Paul Scurrah, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways.

“By deepening the ties between WestJet’s North American network and Fiji Airways’ world-class service to the South Pacific, we are making it easier for our shared guests to reach the destinations that matter most to them,” noted John Weatherill, Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at WestJet.

With the planned deployment of the Airbus A350 and the operational integration of the WestJet and Fiji Airways networks, the air travel market between North America and Oceania enters a stage of further consolidation.
